Adventure Time Wallet

 

So if you have looked around my blog you already know that my son loves Adventure Time (Birthday, Shoes, crocheted figures and Shirt ).  So it was an easy decision on what to put on a wallet I was making him, Finn.

 

 

You will need:

7 inch zipper

9.5 by 5.25 interfacing

9.5 by 5.25 white felt

9.25 by 5.25 white cotton

 

3.5 interfacing

2 pieces of 3.5 by 5.25 white cotton

 

5 inch piece of white Velcro

 

oval piece of flesh colored felt, iron on interfacing ironed on the back 

 

 

 

Iron and sew the face on first- on to the felt, between 2.5 inches from the top and 3.5 inches up from the bottom. Then sew the felt to the long piece of cotton, right sides together, leave an opening so you can flip. Also sew the two smalled pieces of white cotton together.

 

 

Ok- now this is where I discovered my mistake. I was making this wallet for my son to store his "Monkey Money" from the orthodontist in. "Monkey Money" aren't small coins, the are large wooden coins and the coin section I was making was only going to be 3.5 inches high and couldn't store the already 10 coins he had, not to mention any more he was going to get.

 

 

So if you are making a small pocket and zippered pouch, continue on with the small piece of white cotton fabric. Sew one side of the zipper to the side with the face and sew the other side of the zipper to the small cotton piece. Next sew a piece of white Velcro onto the bottom of the felt piece with the face.

 

 

So here it is with the bigger piece. Still sew the pieces together with the zipper in between. 

 

 

Fold the cotton piece over. Sew up the two sides and cut the zipper.

Also sew the other piece of Velcro onto the top of the longer piece.

When sewing with the smaller piece leave the top unsewn so you can put bills or ID cards in the unzippered pocket this created.

 

 

And you are done! Mine has a pocket big enough for all those wooden coins.

 

 

But is still small enough to fit in his pocket.

 

 

And has a cute little Finn face!

Finn and Jake Applique Shirt

For my son's Adventure Time birthday this year (you can click here to see the cake, cupcakes and figures I made) I appliqued him a t-shirt that he wore to school on his actual birthday.

Here is how I did it....

First draw out the figures and then trace them onto the iron interfacing (you will need to reverse the design if it matters which way it faces). Trace each piece that is a different color separately.

Iron on the pieces to the correct color, do not cut out the pieces yet.

After the pieces are ironed on then cut them out- this will ensure that the iron interfacing goes all the way to the edge.

I made a back piece to iron all the little pieces on to for Finn. This back liner also has the iron interfacing on the back so I can iron it onto the shirt after attaching all the pieces.

I didn't have to make a backing for Jake because his body is all one color.

Iron all the pieces together then iron the completed figures on to the shirt.

Now all that is left is to zig-zag stitch all around the figures.

I painted Finn's eyes and mouth with fabric paint.

And that's all....

What Time Is It? Birthday Time!

As I have mentioned before on this blog my son is a huge fan of Adventure Time, a cartoon on Cartoon Network. So it was an easy decision to choose the theme for his birthday party this year.

Here is the cool card my mom made.

Here is the cake, I meant to have Finn front and center but after I finished Jake I wrote Happy Birthday and forgot to turn the cake back around so Jake ended up in the front.

 

I also made some Finn cupcakes for his classmates.



I just used mini marshmallows for the hat ears and chocolate chips for the eyes, this made the 24 cupcakes really easy and fast to decorate.

I also made some cute little clay figures from sculpty clay. They were really easy to do.

Just sculpt the figures out of clay, bake and paint. Ialso clear spray painted them so they are a little more durable and chip proof.

Adventure Time!

What time is it? ADVENTURE TIME!!
My son is in LOVE with the show. He actually told me this week "I am so glad today is Monday, because a new Adventure Time comes on tonight." To be honest I have never seen the show, but with all my "research" I put in to making his Adventure Time Painted Shoes for Christmas I know all the charaters' names and can draw them all. =) I am sure that this is time I will never be able to recoup. But with his birthday coming up I know what the theme for this year will be!!
I thought it would be a neat gift to make him a set of Adventure Time characters for his birthday (it's in March so I will have plenty of time). Here are the first:

Adventure Time Shoes

My son LOVES this cartoon Adventure Time on the Cartoon Network. So I thought after making the Angry Bird shoes for my niece that I would make a pair of Adventure Time shoes for him for Christmas.

I didn't realize how hard it was to find simple white canvas slip on shoes for boys but I finally gave up after the only ones I found were expensive and I would have to pay shipping also. I found these black OP ones at Walmart for only $10.

I was planning on painting a whole setting for the characters on the shoe but since the shoes were black I decided to just do all the main characters with the background the shoe. I think it makes them stand out more and it certainly make the painting easier and faster.

He hasn't opened them yet but these shoes are bound to be his favorite because

1. Finn and Jake
2. something to show off at school and
3. he won't have to tie his laces anymore!!
